Workshops

Rhythms of Grace
Presenter: Rev. Kathy Pittenger

In the middle of full schedules and endless to-do lists, it can feel difficult to find balance and peace. Rhythms of Grace invites participants to explore simple, life-giving spiritual practices that make room for rest, renewal, and connection with God. Through reflection, conversation, and practical tools, this workshop will help you discover ways to embrace rhythms that sustain both your soul and your ministry.

Reconnecting with Your Purpose
Presenter: Rev. Tina Zimmerman

Here is the honest truth:  Like many faithful folks from scripture, God has called us to follow, even though the way might not always be clear to us.  Along that journey, it is our human nature to get tired, to question, and to wonder what we were doing in the first place.  So, let us retrace our steps together, learning to tell the stories of what our lives have taught us and where God has walked alongside us.  Let’s bring to mind what we have learned in order to reconnect with our purpose.  Let’s remember who we are so that we can walk confidently into the future as faith formation leaders.

Leading When You’re Not the Boss (developing healthy relationships with your supervisor for healthy ministry)
Presenters: Rev. Christy Miller and Rev. Amy Mayo-Moyle

Do you ever feel stuck or just don’t know the next steps. You are far from alone! It can be hard to be a good leader when you are not sure of which direction you need to go. Come learn some practical ways to move forward when you are not the one in charge. We will also discuss ways to navigate difficult relationships in leadership and how ask the hard questions to determine what is best for you and your church.

Rooted: Reconnect Leaders

Rev. Amy Mayo-Moyle

Rev. Amy Mayo-Moyle is the Senior Pastor of Clarkston United Methodist Church. Amy has served four churches in the Michigan Conference: Metropolitan, Britton Grace, Orchard and Clarkston. Amy describes her ministry as relational. She enjoys connecting people with each other and helping them to use their gifts to serve Christ and the Church. Amy has a passion for hospitality and for developing a culture of generosity. She is married to Mike and together they have two children, Allison and Ben. Amy is also the proud daughter of a United Methodist Deacon.

Rev. Tina Zimmerman

Tina Zimmerman is an ordained Deacon in the Michigan Conference.  She currently serves as pastor at Jonesville UMC. Her experiences are in lifelong faith formation, coaching, chaplaincy, and compassionate care for elders (particularly those with dementia). All of these ministry spaces are woven with themes of curiosity, courageous authenticity, and building beloved community. She is a storyteller and a story-catcher and especially loves God’s surprising presence in ordinary times.

Rev. Christy While

Rev. Christy Miller White (she/her) is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church with 30+ years of experience in children, youth, and family ministries. Through the years, Rev. White’s ministry has shifted to include incorporating anxiety management in faith formation, religious trauma prevention, classroom behavioral management, and adapting programming and curriculum for a variety of disabilities and special needs. Christy is the proud mom of a young adult and a teenager, happily married to her ministry partner and the “engineer of all things,” and joyfully belting out jazz standards whenever she has the opportunity. She is passionate about children and youth knowing their worth, colorful clothing, caffeine, and cooking experiments – not necessarily in that order.
